Update about Human Sexuality and Responsibility unit (En español)
Correction statement following newsletter error: Human Sexuality and Responsibility (HSR) will not be taught virtually or face-to-face this spring for students in grades K-8. Students who are currently enrolled in the High School 2021 Health Education course will participate in the HSR unit. AISD Board Approves 2016-17 Instructional Calendar
The Austin ISD Board of Trustees approved the calendar for the 2016-17 school year at the Dec. 14 board meeting.This option includes a full week off for the Thanksgiving holiday, similar to other local school districts in Central Texas, in 2016.To accommodate this change, there will be one fewer vacation day during winter break for staff. Austin ISD Board of Trustees Approves Appointment of Director of Recruiting and Staffing
On Oct. 27, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Kristen Hilsabeck, PHR, as director of recruiting and staffing. Hilsabeck has a 13-year history with the district, having served as human resources technician/certification analyst, staffing specialist, substitute services coordinator and professional human resources coordinator in charge of high schools.
Child Care Program
The child care programs provide full day care for infants and toddlers of AISD staff and families at many campuses. The programs prioritize AISD staff for enrollment and when space is available the care is offered to other families in the community.
