Bowie High School Band Earns 2013 Sudler Shield Award
The James Bowie High School Outdoor Performing Ensemble was awarded a 2013 Sudler Shield by Chairman of the Sudler Shield Dale Warrenat an award ceremony and concert May 20. The jury of the Sudler Shield notified the recipients in December at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Convention, which is held in Chicago each year.

Board Votes in Favor of Recommendation for In-District Charter with IDEA Public Schools
On Dec. 20, Austin Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to establish a college preparatory, in-district charter program with IDEA Public Schools. Austin, TX—Tonight, the Austin Independent School District's Board of Trustees approved payment allotments for all regular, full and part-time staff members that will be the equivalent of three percent of the employee's salary. The one-year only increase will cost an estimated $14.16 million and would be funded out of district reserves.
