“High Hopes” for AISD: State of the District
The curtain rose on the 2011 State of the District address at McCallum Arts Center to reveal Superintendent Carstarphen standing in the rain, produced through the wizardry of McCallum theater team members.Holding an umbrella and wearing a rain coat and boots, she welcomed more than 200 guests to the tune, “Singing in the Rain” performed by the McCallum First Edition Choir.

Austin ISD has recently been made aware of a letter sent to families regarding a potential data breach through a previous third-party vendor. The letter from PCS Revenue Control Systems, Inc., states that the name of the noted student, their identification number, and date of birth were potentially exposed to unauthorized access during a data breach in December 2019.

Recent Bowie High School graduate, Carl Heiser earned a third place Bronze medal in News Writing at the May 21 State University Interscholastic League academic contest. Heiser was Austin's only state finisher in the 5A category.
