Austin ISD's Dr. Elisabeth Goodnow to Join the Texas ASCD Board of Directors

Dr. Elisabeth Goodnow, Associate Superintendent of Academics and Social and Emotional Learning has been appointed to The Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), a non-profit organization committed to improving teaching and learning for the success of all learners.

"The Board reviewed the credentials and experience of these stellar educators, and felt that they will be tremendous assets to the Board," said Yolanda M. Rey, Ph.D., Texas ASCD Executive Director. "They come from school districts that add value to our membership." 

"I am grateful and eager to serve on the Texas ASCD Board of Directors. I look forward to sharing the great work coming out of Austin ISD, most notably with regard to Social and Emotional Learning and our focus on the Whole Child," said Lisa Goodnow, Ph.D. "This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn from districts across the state and to work together to influence innovation and support Texas students."

Background on Dr. Lisa Goodnow

Dr. Lisa Goodnow is currently the Associate Superintendent of Academics and Social and Emotional Learning for Austin ISD. She has over 25 years of public education service as a teacher, principal, assistant director and assistant superintendent in the Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth metro areas. Dr. Goodnow earned her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, where she specialized in Educational Policy and Planning.
