This year, students on the Gorzycki Middle School yearbook staff have something extra to smile about—the school's yearbook was recognized for outstanding contribution to scholastic journalism by Balfour, a prominent yearbook publisher. This marks the second year in a row The Roar has earned this distinction.

Selected spreads from Gorzycki's yearbook will be featured in the Balfour's publication The 2012 Yearbook, Yearbook. Of 9,000 entries considered for inclusion, fewer than 9 percent earn placement among its pages.

Additionally, students on yearbook staff received an Award of Achievement from the UIL Interscholastic League Press Conference and the honor rating of Second Class by the National Scholastic Press Association.
