Reagan and Travis High Schools to Host Financial Aid Workshop This Saturday

This Saturday, March 23, representatives from the Austin Chamber will be at Reagan and Travis high schools to help seniors and their parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There is no income cutoff to apply for federal student aid, and all families of high school seniors are encouraged to apply. As of March 1, only 29 percent of Central Texas high school seniors had filed their FAFSA—a 30 percent decrease from 2012.

In addition to providing one-on-one assistance to families applying for college financial aid, students may also receive help applying for college grants, scholarships and more.

Students and their families who are interested in attending the free workshop are encouraged to bring with them:

  • a list of colleges and universities the student is interested in attending,
  • a student/parent driver's license and social security number A,
  • a student/parent alien registration card if the student is a legal permanent resident,
  • all student/parent/guardian 2012 tax documents.

The workshop is part of the Financial Aid Saturdays series, which aims to increase direct-to-college enrollment for Central Texas high school students. To register for the event, visit http://www.austinchamber-collegereadynow.org/.
