Community Conversation: AISD & Easterseals Central Texas 1882 Partnership Proposal

Date
Wednesday, February 19, 2020 - 9:30 am to 11:00 am

What: Easterseals Central Texas (ESCTX) and AISD are exploring an 1882 partnership to offer transition-aged young adults with autism and related neurodivergent conditions a new transition program. This program would be focused on creative arts and technology with a goal of training students to participate in the workforce. By entering into an 1882 partnership with ESCTX, and specifically its Greenleaf Neurodiversity Community Center, AISD can provide transition services to students. The program aims to help those who who have completed high school courses, want to continue academic studies and show a continued need for vocational and independent living skills not offered by an existing AISD program. For many participants, such external programs would only be available through expensive, private, post-secondary programs.

Who: ESCTX invites community members with an interest in this proposal to attend this community forum to ask questions and share ideas that will inform the development of the proposal.

When:  Wednesday, Feb. 19th, 9:30–11 a.m.

Where: Easterseals Central Texas, 8505 Cross Park Drive, Ste. 120, Austin TX 78754.  The meeting will happen in the Wrangler Room.  Community members will also be able to participate remotely through the Easterseals Central Texas Facebook page.

Please Note:  If you require special accommodations, including ASL or Spanish translator, please email mbowman@eastersealstx.org by noon on Feb. 18th.
