Red Ribbon Week—Focus on Vaping

Date
Wednesday, October 23, 2019 - 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Red Ribbon Week—Oct. 28 through Nov. 1—is a national campaign to bring awareness to the risks and dangers of substance abuse. Starting Oct. 28, AISD will educate students, staff and the community about the effects of tobacco, alcohol, vaping and other drugs on our bodies and brains.

As part of Red Ribbon Week, all middle and high schools will educate students with the substance use curriculum: CATCH My Breath: E-Cigarette and JUUL Prevention. This program helps students to see through the myths and media hype about vaping so they can resist use of personal vape devices.

To kick off the week early, please join us 6–7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Austin High School for an educational presentation on e-cigarettes and vaping.

We will discuss how vaping works, the various types of vaping products on the market, and the effects of vaping on youth and young adults.

We hope that all our students and community will feel the full potential of being healthy and drug-free!
