Austin ISD School Consolidation Process Virtual Info Session

To avoid deeper budget cuts and safeguard the academic experience, Austin ISD will consolidate schools starting in the 2026–27 school year.

School consolidation means merging one or more campuses, which will entail:

  • School closures
  • Boundary changes
  • Transfer policy evaluation
  • Facility repurposing

We’re taking a comprehensive, districtwide approach that will evaluate all campuses to ensure every student learns in a well-resourced, fully staffed school, with strong programs and rich opportunities.

Alternative Learning Center Rebuild

Alternative Learning Center Rebuild

The Alternative Learning Center (ALC) is a school community built on second chances—and a deeply rooted belief that every student desires and deserves to achieve their greatest potential. Students attend the ALC for a variety of reasons, including social and discipline challenges at their home schools as well as community-based incidents.

The ALC is currently located at the Anita Ferales Coy Facility in East Austin. The campus will be undergoing a major redevelopment in support of the following goals:

Senior Success Story: Crockett ECHS senior headed to an Ivy League school

Crockett Early College High School Senior Celina McCormack is moving to the big apple to attend her dream school: Columbia University.

Celina credits her success to the supportive community at Crockett, where students are encouraged to pursue their unique paths.

What they’re saying: "We’re all different people from different places, but Crockett really preaches inclusion and helping each other succeed," Selena said.
