Statement from the Board President- May 27, 2020
The board of Trustees voted 9-0 to hire JG Consulting with a target that we hire our next highly qualified Superintendent no later than August 31st in light of the news Dr. Cruz will be leaving for a position at the University of Texas.
By comparison, in 2014, AISD had three days of community engagement in 8 months. This time, we are doing 8 weeks of community engagement over six months. So far, JG Consulting has held over 60 meetings in 3.5 weeks and listened to over 1,000 students, parents, teachers, staff and community members. We look forward to the public testimony on June 22 when we finalize our leadership profile which will be created based on community input.
Before the vote, there remain multiple engagement opportunities: tonight JG Consulting will host a Spanish language community listening session at 6 pm, tomorrow an English language community listening session at 7 pm, and Friday a meeting with Education Austin. JG Consulting is also meeting with our AISD advisory groups and in coordination with AISD Trustees, every school will be heard as well. In addition, AISD and JG Consulting maintain a Superintendent search website, continue to circulate a community input survey, and request input through the trustees@austinisd.org email account. Every member of our community can share their thoughts on what is going well with AISD, what skill sets are needed for the next Superintendent, and any other suggestions or comments they would like to share.

Antes de la votación, quedan varias oportunidades de participación: esta noche, JG Consulting tendrá una sesión para escuchar a la comunidad en el idioma español a las 6 p.m., mañana una sesión para escuchar a la comunidad en el idioma inglés a las 7 p.m. y el viernes una junta con Education Austin. JG Consulting también se está reuniendo con nuestros grupos consultores del AISD y, en coordinación con los miembros de la mesa directiva, también escuchará a todas las escuelas. Además, el AISD y JG Consulting mantienen un sitio web de la búsqueda de superintendente, siguen circulando una encuesta para los comentarios de la comunidad y solicitando aportes por medio de la cuenta de correo electrónico trustees@austinisd.org. Cada miembro de nuestra comunidad puede compartir sus opiniones sobre lo que va bien en el AISD, qué conjuntos de destrezas necesita el próximo superintendente y cualquier otra sugerencia o comentario que quiera compartir.
