This summer, Austin ISD will provide free, healthy meals to all children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition program administered in the Lone Star State by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). For the children who rely on school meals during the academic year, these meals offer a source of good nutrition when school is out for the long summer vacation.
On May 26, 2022, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees held a special meeting to discuss next steps following Superintendent Stephanie S. Elizalde’s announced resignation. Dr. Elizalde’s last day will be June 30, 2022.
The entire Austin ISD family remains focused on our students and families consistent with our mission, which is to prepare every student with the knowledge and skills to thrive in college, career, and life.
The board and Dr. Elizalde are working on a transition plan. We expect to hire an interim superintendent in June 2022.
Dear Austin ISD Community,
As we grieve with the families in Uvalde, it is natural for our thoughts to turn to the safety of our own children here at home. I met with Austin ISD Police Department Acting Chief Beverly Freshour and her lieutenants this morning, and I share with you what additional measures we will be taking to provide a safe environment the last few days of the school year and during the graduation ceremonies.

Starting June 6 through June 29, families can come to select Austin ISD campuses for support and resources to get their child registered for the 2022-23 school year.
Families can come to any one of the campus enrollment days to get help in enrolling their child for any campus or any grade.
The enrollment days are scheduled every Monday through Wednesday from 2-8 p.m.
Interpreters will be available at Dobie Middle School for the following languages: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Pashto, Kinyarwanda and Swahili.
