Community Update: Austin ISD “Project Lighthouse”

Please join us to learn more about how Austin ISD is bridging the digital divide. The project—called Project Lighthouse—will increase internet access in neighborhoods where it has historically been limited. Students’ academic performance can be negatively impacted without internet access. They may not be able to connect with teachers and classmates or get online homework help outside school hours.

Student safety and advocacy (En español)

Dear Austin ISD Families,

We are aware that students from some of our high schools are planning a peaceful walkout this afternoon. We want to assure you that we have protocols around these kinds of events and are prepared to keep all students safe.

The stated purpose of the walkout is to call for peace. It is important to note that this event is not sponsored or endorsed by the district. It is entirely initiated and organized by students.

Good Stewardship: Repurposing Sims

Austin ISD invites the community to join us for a conversation series entitled Good Stewardship: Repurposing Sims during which we will meet virtually with local organizations and thought leaders to discuss the future of the former Sims Elementary Sims campus as we work together to create a vision. For those unable to attend, a copy of the meeting presentation, recording and notes will be posted to the district website.
