An Important Message From Superintendent Elizalde / Un mensaje importante del Superintendente Elizalde

Good morning, Austin ISD family,

First, I hope you have had an opportunity to rest and relax during this winter break, and most importantly that you have remained safe and healthy. 

I’m writing to confirm that next week we will resume operations as planned for Spring 2021 with the exception of extracurricular activities. Only varsity sports will continue. All other extracurricular activities will be suspended. 

MEDIA AVAILABILITY: Superintendent to Provide Update on District Operations

Austin ISD Superintendent Stephanie S. Elizalde will provide an update on the district’s plans for in-person classes after winter break during a virtual media availability. 

What: Dr. Elizalde will be available to provide information and answer questions from the media regarding district operations after winter break. 

When: 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31

Where: Zoom. Login details are available with RSVP.

Due to time constraints and availability, each reporter will be allowed two questions. 

Dual Language Application/Enrollment Period - Middle School

Notice: We have extended the deadline for dual language applications/enrollment for both elementary and secondary to March 12, 2021

Dual Language applications accepted for middle school 2021-22 school year.

Applications for enrollment into dual language programs for the elementary 2021-22 school year are being accepted December 18, 2020 through March 12, 2021.

This event will focus on how exactly the legislative process works and how you can get involved in the decisions that affect your students.

This event is the second in a series that will educate families about how their tax dollars work for students and provide the tools to engage through every step of the process—from your local school’s budget to the Texas legislature. This event will dig deep into the Austin ISD Board of Trustees’ priorities for the 2021 Texas Legislative Session and what they mean for public education in Austin.

Pilot Campuses Submit Staffing Plans for Review, Approval/Los planteles piloto presentan planes de dotación de personal para su revisión y aprobación

Proposed staffing plans to accommodate alternate work arrangements have been submitted by six pilot campuses to Austin ISD school leadership and Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde for review and approval.

“I am proud of the campus teams and their collaborative efforts to be creative while meeting students’ needs,” Elizalde said. “I am hopeful that we can find solutions to think flexibly to support staff while providing instruction to serve all students.”
