Frequently Asked Questions

How Can I Become a Member of an AISD Advisory Body?

If you are interested in serving on one or more AISD advisory bodies, please complete the Standard Membership Application Form. Application forms will be kept on file for two years. Application forms are provided to the appropriate selection entities as needed. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee selection for service, but the application will be considered.

The following criteria apply to certain membership categories:

  • Parents must live within the district, and must be a custodial parent or guardian of a student currently enrolled in a district school. Parents may not also be AISD employees.
  • Teachers are generally classroom teachers, but may also include librarians, counselors, coaches, and instructional assistants.
  • Community members must live within the district. Community members may not also be parents or AISD employees.
  • Business representatives need not live or work within the district. Business representatives may also be parents.

How Can I Tell if There Are Any Current Vacancies?

Each advisory body has its own website (links above). Navigate to the Membership page for a specific advisory body, and current vacancies should be noted. However, even if no vacancies are noted, if you are interested in serving on an advisory body, please submit an application, as vacancies often arise, and advisory body coordinators rely on applications on file.

Can I Visit Meetings of AISD Advisory Bodies?

All regular meetings of AISD advisory bodies are open to the public. In some cases, subcommittee or work meetings may not be open to the public. If you would like to speak before a district advisory body during a regular meeting, please consult the Citizens Communications Guidelines.

Is Information Available on Previous AISD Advisory Bodies?

The work of previous AISD Advisory Bodies is an important resource to current and future planning. In addition to final reports, links to the websites of several previous advisory bodies are maintained.
