More AISD Families to Have Access To Transportation in 2021-22 School year

More families will have access to transportation services in the 2021-22 school year, the Superintendent said Monday, April 26.

“At Operation Reconnect, we learned that one of the reasons many students are leaving to attend a charter school was because of a lack of transportation, “ Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde said. 

To remedy that, the district would invest its own money to add additional routes at select campuses to reach more students living within two miles of a school.

Bowie Sophomore Wins State Wrestling Championship

When the final whistle blew at the class 6A state wrestling tournament on Saturday, Bowie sophomore Olivia Moreno knew that she had just accomplished something no one else has done before, becoming Bowie's first-ever female state wrestling champion while maintaining an undefeated season at 23-0.

Moreno took home the 119-pound weight title in the class 6A state wrestling tournament Saturday at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas. She could not hold her excitement, completing a full backflip in celebration after she pinned her final opponent.

AISD Creates Facebook Profile Frames for 2021 Graduates (En español)

Austin ISD is proud of the Class of 2021, and to congratulate our graduates we have created Facebook profile picture frames to celebrate them reaching this milestone.

The frames can be both accessed in Spanish and English and say “2021 Grad!” and “Proud of my Grad!” There are two frames: one for family and friends, and one for students. Austin ISD encourages our parents and students to use these frames to celebrate our #AISDProud Class of 2021.

Día de Los Niños Drive-Thru Event Brings Together the Community with Kid-Friendly Giveaways and More

Community members can participate in the Día de Los Niños event at Mendez Middle School on Friday, April 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. A popular annual celebration in Mexico of children and their wellbeing, the gathering is a drive-thru event with some walk-up stations. It includes kid-friendly giveaways, safety and education tools, and more.

The Día celebration also promotes literacy, culture and language. To help commemorate this, the Austin Public Library Bookmobile will be on-site giving away books.

Human Sexuality Curriculum Virtual Learning Session / Sesión de aprendizaje virtual sobre el plan de estudio de Sexualidad Humana

Austin ISD is providing a virtual learning opportunity to update and inform families about the human sexuality curriculum, policies and how to support their children.

AISD believes parents are the most important teachers when it comes to talking to their children about human sexuality.

This virtual learning opportunity will allow parents and caregivers to,
