LBJ Jaguars Advancing to State Quarterfinals

We are #AustinISD proud of the LBJ Jaguars Football Team who are advancing in the state quarterfinals. LBJ, under the leadership of head coach Jahmal Fenner, played a hard-fought game against Corpus Christi Calallen to win 38-24 on Friday, Nov. 27 at Eagle Stadium in Pleasanton ISD. The Jaguars will go on to face Roy Miller High School’s Buccaneers at 2:30 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 5 in San Antonio.

Austin ISD Moves To Remote Learning for One Week: Nov. 30-Dec. 4

Today, following a meeting with city and county officials along with Austin Public Health, Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde decided to move to 100% remote instruction, for one week only, from Nov. 30 through Dec. 4. Austin ISD will resume on-campus instruction Monday, December 7th.

Reminder: Austin ISD Closed Nov. 23-27 for Thanksgiving Holiday

Austin ISD will be closed for one week, Nov. 23-27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period. The district will resume regular business hours Monday, Nov. 30.

A Message from Superintendent Stephanie S. Elizalde: Staying Prepared

As we get ready to take a much-needed break for Thanksgiving, we want to work with our community to be prepared.

We have learned many lessons in the past eight months living with COVID-19, including how quickly we may need to pivot as health guidelines are updated. Austin-Travis County entered Stage 4 of Austin Public Health’s risk-based guidelines this week. We are monitoring the situation and routinely consulting with Austin Public Health and Interim Director Dr. Mark Escott.

AISD to Provide Free Meals During Thanksgiving Holiday

Austin ISD will partner with the Central Texas Food Bank to provide access to healthy food while campuses are closed for the Thanksgiving break. 
 
AISD curbside meal sites will serve free seven-day meal packs prior to the break on Thursday, Nov. 19. Families may pick up an additional seven-days worth of meals at the Food Bank’s mass distribution event:

School Mental Health Centers: Free Teacher and Staff Mental Health Support Groups

The School Mental Health Centers, in partnership with Vida Clinic, is offering support group conversations weekly. The group conversations aim to provide an outlet for staff and teachers to talk with a mental health professional regarding their stress and anxieties. Group conversations happen virtually and are led by School Mental Health Clinicians every Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Event dates are Dec. 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 5–6 p.m.
