All Austin ISD office and campuses are closed Dec. 23–Jan. 2. Staff return Friday, Jan. 3.

The first day of classes is Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 for the following schools:

Austin, Eastside Memorial, International

Middle Schools:
Martin, O. Henry

Elementary Schools:
Barton Hills, Bryker Woods, Casis, Mathews, Oak Hill, Patton, Pease, Zilker

Students at Metz and Sánchez elementary schools dressed in reindeer outfits and sang classic holiday tunes as their parents smiled and took video. This cheerful scene took place at the winter celebration of Metz and Sánchez elementaries, which included food, dancing and an appearance from Santa.

Both schools have been colocated at Metz until the new Sánchez Elementary opens in August 2021. Families from both schools were invited to the celebration and the turn out resulted in a packed gym.

More than 200 AISD families at Houston Elementary school in South Austin received computers. AISD and the City of Austin along with PCs for People helped distribute refurbished desktop computers to students and their families enrolled at Uphaus Early Childhood Center, Houston, Rodriguez, and Widén elementary schools. These schools were chosen based on their proximity to the distribution center at Houston Elementary.

Austin ISD is now offering families the option to receive texts for multiple types of district messages.

Austin ISD is proud to welcome a new leader at McCallum High School. 

Brandi Hosack is the new principal at McCallum High School. Hosack has been the Acting Principal since June 2019.  She came to AISD from North Forney High School in Forney, Texas where she was principal for one year. Prior, she held various leadership and teaching positions at Akins High School with her last position being principal for four years.
