It was a full house at T.A. Brown Elementary on Friday, October 14th, as students, staff, district employees, representatives from the Heart of America Foundation and Target Corporation, volunteers and community members anxiously awaited the unveiling of Brown's new library.
The school was one of 42 selected to take part in the Target School Library Makeover Program, which renovates school libraries with 2,000 new books, eco-friendly design elements, a complete technology upgrade including iPads, as well as new furniture, carpet and shelves. Each of the students were also lucky enough to take home seven books to add to their own home libraries.
Superintendent Meria Carstarphen joined the crowd to thank Target for their joint commitment with AISD in encouraging kids to read early and often.
