Out-of-District Transfers

Austin ISD welcomes students from outside its boundaries to any program with available space, which is a majority of campuses. For the 2018–19 school year, out-of-district transfer requests will be accepted beginning Feb. 1, 2018. Out-of-district transfers are not allowed for the district's magnet or special programs, nor will transfer requests be granted to frozen schools.

Students wishing to attend a magnet program at Fulmore, Kealing or LASA or an application program such as Anderson IB or Academies at Austin; Crockett Entrepreneurial Program; Crockett, Eastside, Lanier, LBJ, Reagan or Travis Early College High Schools; Covington, Lamar or McCallum Fine Arts; Bedichek Einstein Jr.; Innovation Academy at Martin; Small Green Tech; Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders or a Dual Language program must apply directly to those programs and must provide proof of residence. Principals of these programs may request proof of residence at any time.

Applicants who are approved to attend a magnet or performance-based application program at Fulmore, Kealing, Lamar, LASA or McCallum must show proof of residence within AISD boundaries by the application due date. This proof may include documentation indicating that the student’s family will occupy a residence that has been purchased or leased within 45 calendar days of the application due date.
