Out-of-District Transfers

Out-of-District Transfers

Austin ISD welcomes students from outside its boundaries to any program with available space, which is a majority of campuses. For the 2020–21 school year, out-of-district transfer requests will be accepted beginning Feb. 3, 2020. Out-of-district transfers are not allowed for the district's magnet or special programs, nor will transfer requests be granted to frozen schools.

Students wishing to attend a magnet program (Kealing, LASA or Lively); Richards School for Young Women Leaders; application programs (e.g. Anderson IB; Early College High Schools, Fine Arts Academies, Bedichek Einstein, Jr., Innovation Academy at Martin); or a dual language program, must apply directly to those programs. If approved, the student shall enroll and maintain participation in the program for which the transfer is granted. If the student withdraws from the program, he or she shall return to the home campus at the end of that semester.

This proof may include documentation indicating that the student’s family will occupy a residence that has been purchased or leased within 45 calendar days of the application due date.
