Supporting Student Achievement

Student achievement depends on the effectiveness of staff. The Austin ISD Department of Employee Effectiveness provides an array of professional development and support to AISD employees and oversees the district’s appraisal systems. The department aims to positively impact and support the recruitment, development, and retention of effective teachers and administrators throughout AISD.

Appraisal Systems

Professional Pathways for Teachers is a collaboration among Austin ISD, Education Austin and the American Federation of Teachers. It is a system that blends appraisal, compensation and professional development for AISD teachers. PPfT focuses on building the capacity of our teachers through a comprehensive system of supports and rewards with the ultimate goal of impacting student achievement.

Campus Administrator Performance Review is a pathway for campus administrator growth that incorporates multiple measures of effectiveness. CAPR fosters open and collaborative campus cultures that focus on instructional growth and the development of individual and schoolwide practices that effectively improve student learning.

Appraisals for counselors, librarians, classified staff and non-teaching professionals are also overseen by the department of employee effectiveness. These appraisals focus on skills such as professionalism, customer service, dependability, communication, and resourcefulness.
