Inspired by our late grandmother, "Suga", who baked all of the the family cakes, we aim to provide you with home baked goods made with that extra ingredient, love.

Suga's Cakery creates cakes with the finest and freshest ingredients made from scratch with you in mind. Gluten and sugar sensitive options are available.

Historically Underutilized Business (HUB)
& Sustainability Working Together

What is the Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program and why is it important?

In general, the AISD HUB program is a business strategy to ensure that minority and women owned businesses have equal access to bid on AISD contracting opportunities. This business practice is also referred to as equity in contracting.

  • Adds economic value because it encourages the growth of diverse businesses.
  • Uplifts the communities where HUBs are located through job creation, increased wages, and tax revenue.
  • Promotes competition (on price and service levels) between AISD’s existing and potential vendors/contractors.
  • Reflects the diverse students, families and communities that AISD serves!

  • AISD sets annual HUB goals to ensure that the 2017 Bond Program and any bond funded construction and construction related project includes minority and women-owned contractors.
  • A minority-owned business represents African American, Asian/Native American and Hispanic ethnic categories.;
  • There are over 50 HUB subcontractors that have worked on the 2017 Bond Program construction projects at AISDs school campuses.
  • There are 3 HUB coordinators assigned to campuses by geographic locations. The HUB coordinator is responsible for program outreach, attending critical bond related construction meetings, and advocacy for inclusion of HUBs as contractors.

  2. Bringing “a spare to share” helps someone that forgot!

Mellizoz is derived from the Spanish word mellizo. We pronounce it [may-E-so] - meaning fraternal twins. There are currently 9 sets of Mellizoz in the family!

Mission Hot Dogs

Stay cool as a cucumber in the Texas heat with a bite of the Vietdog! This bacon-wrapped hot dog is loaded with a fresh cucumber, carrot, jalapeno, and cilantro slaw. And then topped with sriracha mayo and chili pepper garlic sauce. Bonus- the Vietdog can also be made vegetarian or vegan! Just ask.

Nacho Average Food Truck 

Austin ISD Food Services is proud to offer the district's first food trailer in an effort to provide students with healthy and delicious meal options in a new and innovative way.

The Nacho Average Food Truck menu will alternate daily and will first feature street tacos with locally sourced ingredients, including tortillas from Fiesta Tortillas and produce from Johnson's Backyard Garden.
