News from Dr. Cruz: Taking tech to the next level
Does your heart race for robots? Are you vying for virtual classrooms? Do you see stars for circuitry?
Then you probably love the tech surge happening at Austin ISD.
Throughout the district, we are rethinking the way technology supports student learning. With the distribution of mobile devices complete, we're moving to the next level of infusing technology into our teaching environments.
Incorporating digital citizenship into learning will prepare students for a technology-dominated world. The effort will be co-created by students and will help them use technology responsibly, develop critical thinking skills and find new creative opportunities.
Our offerings of tech classes such as robotics and machinery give students real-world and hands-on experiences to prepare them for careers in STEM fields.
Google classrooms increase flexibility for teachers and students to explore learning. These environments provide a blended learning experience of face-to-face instruction and a virtual space where students can collaborate online.
To compliment this work, AISD is co-hosting the Austin EdSurge Tech for Schools Summits this Friday and Saturday. School administrators can learn about tech strategies being used in other districts, and teachers can explore products, network with likeminded peers and discuss classroom techniques.
Cheers to each and every one of you who is thinking big and taking tech to the next level.
