Some of the greatest minds in the world convene once a year at Austin’s SXSWedu festival. AISD is proud to have taken part once again, showcasing our students and programming.
Our booth at the SXSWedu Expo featured a variety of programs and initiatives, as well as student performances.
At the 2017 SXSWedu Expo, Crockett High School student Lily Davisson pitched her startup idea, “Animal Inspired,” in the Student Startup Competition. Opportunities to get feedback from business professionals allows students to build confidence and to refine their ideas until they have a successful business plan.
Additionally, 16 student filmmakers shared stories about their personal champions who have supported, challenged and encouraged them to succeed. Their films premiered on the big screen at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, and you can watch the preview here. KLRU and AISD.TV will be airing the films this spring.
Allowing students to showcase their work to the world is an opportunity not all districts are able to offer. We’re so excited to be able to provide this valuable experience of performing at a world-renowned festival.
