News from Dr. Cruz: FMP Update

Team AISD,

People are talking, and we're listening.

Since starting the Facility Master Plan process in the fall of 2015, we’ve hosted two rounds of community engagement meetings to get ideas about building schools of the future.

More than 1,000 people have shared feedback that has helped refine our approach to modernization to include:

  • state-of-the-art technology in all schools,
  • flexible learning spaces in all schools and
  • community spaces.

We also had independent experts conduct assessments of our schools to gather data on facility conditions and educational suitability.

The Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee is studying the community feedback and assessment results. FABPAC will use this information to draft recommendations for facilities options that best serve our students and our neighborhoods.

Round three of community engagement meetings will be a prime opportunity to hear from FABPAC and share your thoughts as they finalize recommendations.

If you are not able to make the meetings, you can join the @AustinISD Twitter chat on Monday, Jan. 30 from 6–7 p.m. or give feedback via email at future@austinisd.org.

We're listening—and we want you to talk!

Sincerely,
Paul Cruz, Ph.D.
Superintendent
