News from Dr. Cruz: Early College High School

Team AISD,

In early June, our district will celebrate together as more than 4,000 seniors cross the stage to receive their diplomas.

All of our graduates arrived at this place with the support of many teachers and other staff over the years. We can all share in the pride of this moment.

I am also #AISDProud of the first graduates of the LBJ and Reagan Early College High Schools. This week, 13 of these students will receive their associate degree from Austin Community College. They will walk the stage with both a diploma and a college degree in hand.

Early College High School opens the door to higher education for students who might not have otherwise considered it, including students from low-income communities and first-generation college students. College tuition and textbooks are free, adding up to thousands of dollars in savings for students and their families. Students have access to the full range of ACC support services, including college advising, career counseling and free tutoring.

Congratulations to all of our graduates and to the teachers and staff who have supported them along the way.
