News from Dr. Cruz: College Signing Day

Team AISD,

When you think of a roaring crowd, athletics usually comes to mind, but at College Signing Day, academics is center stage. The event is modeled after NCAA Signing Day, to reinforce that excellence in the classroom deserves as much celebration as achievement in sports.

The second annual College Signing Day had UT Austin's Gregory Gym packed and energized. Hundreds of middle and high school students from throughout Central Texas came together to declare and celebrate their post-graduation plans.

At the event, students took the #ReachHigher pledge. They committed to enroll in college, persevere in their studies and to graduate.

As we commit to DTC70 and preparing students for college, career and life, College Signing Day is a prime opportunity to support students in their journey. That includes students who are continuing a family tradition of post-secondary education and those who will be first generation college-goers.

Thanks to each of you who contributed to College Signing Day and to everyone who supports students in achieving their dreams.

Paul Cruz, Ph.D.
