The Best of Both Worlds
Dual language helps students excel academically while becoming bilingual, biliterate and bicultural. The program is committed to educating students in a multicultural learning environment and encouraging learners to celebrate diversity and become responsible citizens of the world. Dual-language students participate in a rigorous academic program that follows the AISD academic standards and curriculum.
At the elementary school level, one-way and two-way dual-language programs are offered in Spanish. The one-way program is designed for native Spanish speakers. The two-way program is designed for native Spanish speakers and native English speakers. A Vietnamese two-way dual-language program is offered at Summitt Elementary and is intended for native Vietnamese speakers and native English speakers.
At the middle school level, students are offered at least two content courses taught in Spanish each year, including Spanish for Spanish speakers and a core content class. The program is intended for students who participated in elementary dual language programs and for native Spanish-speaking middle school students who are new to the district.
