First Name Changes

First Name Changes

We realize that many students prefer to be identified by a first name that is different from their legal first name. In Texas, upon a student’s enrollment, districts are required to record the student’s legal name. However, Austin ISD is able to collect the preferred first name and use it for many of our systems. If you are interested in submitting a preferred first name for your student, please refer to the checklist below and the detailed instructions document.

Parent/Guardian Action Item Checklist

The items below are how your child’s name will appear with no further action by you. If your child needs to be identified by a preferred first name in these areas below, please contact the appropriate person listed by each item so a change can be made.
