The AISD Police Department is a Recognized Law Enforcement Agency by the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Recognition Program as of August 22, 2008. The Department began the lengthy process to become a Recognized Law Enforcement Agency by the Texas Police Chief's Association in May 2007. This process required the Department to prove compliance with over 164 best practices established by Texas law enforcement professionals by reviewing its' policies, procedures, facilities, and operations. These best practices were carefully developed to assist law enforcement agencies with efficient and effective service delivery. These best practices cover all aspects of law enforcement operations including: use of force, protection of citizen rights, vehicle pursuits, property and evidence management, and patrol and investigative operations. The AISD Police Department is proud to be the first school district police department to receive this recognition, and only the 7th law enforcement agency in Texas. It re-affirmed its' commitment to quality service delivery in November 2012 by being re-certified, and again most recently in August 2017!
