National Parental Involvement Day
National Parental Involvement Day is Nov. 16, 2017. This annual event provides an opportunity for our schools to honor and highlight the powerful contributions families, guardians and caregivers provide at school and home to support student success. It is also a day for parents and families to consider how they can get more involved in the education of their children and in the school district.
We encourage parents and families to look for meaningful ways to become involved in their child's school and hope they will encourage friends who have children to do the same.
On this day and every day, we thank parents and families for engaging with us in partnership with their child's education, and in creating an environment where learning takes place not just in the classroom, but in the home.
For volunteer opportunities, please talk to your child's school principal, parent support specialist or PTA. To apply to serve on one of many AISD advisory boards or committees, visit the AISD Advisory Bodies webpage.
The Austin ISD Parent Engagement Support Office commits to connect, engage, educate and support families of their students. In addition, the Office provides coordination and support to the Austin ISD's campus-based Parent Support Specialists.
Every school embraces a collaborative culture for students, parents/families, teachers, staff and community that sustains quality parental/family, engagement/involvement and promotes the social, emotional, and academic growth of our students.
The District's Parent Engagement Support Office and its team will build capacity and create tools to foster partnerships among families, schools, and communities that result in shared responsibility, shared accountability and shared leadership for all students, all schools, and community success.
