AISD Food Service Star: Josefina Sanchez
October 27, 2016
We are excited to announce Josefina Sanchez, Café Manager at Mendez Middle School as this week’s Food Service Star.
Food Service Star recognizes employees who go above and beyond their daily job requirements to ensure their kitchen is providing nutritious, appetizing meals that promote health, well-being and learning.
Josefina has been with Austin ISD for 20 years. Under Josefina’s leadership, the Mendez café team was the first middle school in the district to launch Breakfast in the Classroom, where they are now serving 200 more students at breakfast each day.
When asked what she enjoys best about her job, Josefina says it is preparing the variety of healthy foods. Josefina’s favorite school lunch menu items are all the steamed vegetables. Outside of work, Josefina loves going for walks, listening to music and watching movies. The best advice that Josefina has ever received is “Give respect to receive respect.”
Congratulations Josefina on being the latest Austin ISD Food Service Star!
