Overview

In Austin ISD Cultural Proficiency & Inclusiveness (est. 2010-11) endeavors to embed depth of thought and action among adult educators. The desire of Cultural Proficiency & Inclusiveness is to embed CP&I into the work of the school district, and provide professional learning sessions on how to interact with students and their families in a manner that considers the diverse needs of all. Principals' Council on Race & Equity

The AISD Principals' Council on Race & Equity established SY 2013-14 was formed after ten AISD principals attended the Undoing Racism Workshop held at Kealing Middle School June 2013. The Council met four times during the 2013-14 school year, continues to meet quarterly, and are dedicated to building their capacity using the equity lens as a mirror. The desire of the Principals' Council is to grow the number of AISD staff who approach work with students and their families using the equity lens as a mirror.

CP&I Council

The AISD Council on Cultural Proficiency & Inclusiveness (CP&I) commenced its work in December 2010. 

Council Charge

  • Explore current challenges in AISD through conversations with internal stakeholders, external partners and constituents.
  • Develop a clear statement and plan to address cultural proficiency and inclusiveness (include action steps focused on environment, curriculum, teaching strategies, leadership, family and community involvement).
