After UIL Realignment, Austin ISD Teams Eye Another Successful Year

To keep up with enrollment shifts, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) does a realignment of its participating schools every two years. The new enrollment numbers determine a school’s classification (from 1A to 6A), which also means a potential shuffling of districts. 2016 is a realignment year, so there are some big changes for AISD schools. The big takeaway: the Austin Independent School District’s 6A schools no longer share a district with traditional powerhouses Westlake and Lake Travis.  Also, Austin High drops from 6A to 5A and Eastside Memorial rejoins district play in class 4A.
