The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees the day to day financial operations and is responsible for the overall fiscal condition of the district. The CFO oversees the implementation and consistent application of sound management practices and controls, including, but not limited to, transparent financial reporting and analysis, cash flow, debt management, the procurement process, payroll, risk management, and managing and monitoring the budget. The CFO supervises both local general funds and state, federal and private grant funding. The CFO also oversees construction management, food services and transportation.

Financial and Budget Services, including the Comptroller and Treasurer, prepares budget information, financial data, and fiscal reports and information for the public, Superintendent, Board of Trustees, the Citizens Budget Review Committee, schools, city, county and state fiscal authorities.

The Risk Management department reviews risks associated with the operation of the district, recommend ways to minimize losses and handle any claims for damages. The goal of this department is to properly assess the risks facing the district and develop effective and fiscally sound principles to handle those risks. Risk Management is responsible for administration of the insurance funds and excess insurance policies for workers compensation, general liability, crime, and property damage to buildings and equipment.

The Medicaid and student billing finance personnel seek reimbursement from the federal government's Medicaid program for health-related services that school personnel, such as nurses and speech therapists, provide to students who are eligible for Medicaid benefits.

Started in 2010, the Office of Innovation & Development (OID) was established to support the district and individual campuses in their fundraising efforts and to link community-based service providers and corporations with Austin ISD campuses. Our mission is to promote integrated partnerships and develop high-quality resources to support students.

OID actively searches and applies for federal, state and local funding to support key district initiatives and campus goals. Services such as grant writing assistance, grant research and donor recognition are provided in support of district initiatives and campus-led fundraising campaigns.

The Office of Innovation & Development is also home to the Youth Services Mapping (YSM) System – a network of more than 90 non-profit organizations that provide services to students on Austin ISD campuses. From after-school programs to summer enrichment, the YSM network is committed to improving the educational success of all Austin ISD students.

The mission of the Office of Facilities is to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of districtwide maintenance and planning services which impact all of the students, teachers and staff in the district.

The Construction Management Department (CMD) is responsible for the daily management of all large capital construction projects. The majority of this work is associated with bond programs that have been approved by the voters and delegated by the Board and superintendent to the department for implementation.

Contract and Procurement Services establishes and administers district-wide contracts for goods and services; reviews purchase requests for compliance with state laws, board policy, and administrative regulations; issues purchase orders for equipment and services requested by schools and departments; acts as supplier liaison; and provides guidance and training related to purchasing.

The Office of State, Federal, & Private Accountability, or State & Federal, works with employees, departments and schools to ensure grant funding is used according to required Federal laws, rules, and regulations. State & Federal provides guidance in coordinating use of Federal resources to support AISD initiatives and priorities. We coordinate effective use of money from multiple sources for school-wide and district-wide initiatives. State & Federal reports program and fiscal compliance information to funding agencies, according to each agency's reporting schedule.

The goals of State & Federal are to ensure AISD is in 100 percent compliance with Federal grant management rules, to serve as a customer-service focused resource for schools and staff, and to ensure funding provided for students every year is used in a timely manner to accelerate the academic achievement of those students.

The Food Services Department supports the academic achievement of students by providing nutritious appetizing meals that support health, well-being and learning.

The Transportation Department strives to provide safe, reliable and professional transportation service for our students according to the parameters set forth by the district's policy, and in adherence to applicable State and Federal Laws
