Last night, AISD hosted the annual retirement dinner. We gathered to celebrate teachers, principals, librarians, counselors, clerical staff and other employees who have helped shape the future for our students. Excitement, anticipation and a bit of sadness were in the air as these dedicated employees said goodbye to their coworkers and friends.
Collectively, this year’s retirees have dedicated nearly 7,000 hours to AISD. Fifty-four employees will retire with more than 30 years of service. And this year’s winner, Zoe Griffith, who retired in January from her position as director of student services, has worked for the district for 51 years!
As educators, we look back and think about all we have done and all the great successes our students have achieved. We see the fruits of our labor as students prepare to move up to the next grade or graduate from high school and move on to the next stage in their lives.
Our AISD retirees, looking back over careers that may span several decades, can be proud of all the lives they have touched and changed during their time with us. They make me AISDProud!
We value our hard-working staff, and we miss them when they leave us. Enjoy your retirement!
