Students, their friends and families filled the seats at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center this afternoon to celebrate graduates from Premier at Lanier and Travis high schools.

Fifty-five students crossed the stage to receive their diplomas and complete their high school careers. For some, they were the first in their families to do so. 

Paulita Zuniga, campus director of the program at Lanier, said one word—perseverance—best described the graduates. 

Superintendent Paul Cruz highlighted several students who embodied that word, including one who returned to school after dropping out and another who attended classes for nearly nine hours each day.
