School Board Recognition Month: 'A Work of Heart'

January is School Board Recognition Month, and this year’s theme is “A Work of Heart.” Students throughout the district have created posters, made baked goods and participated in performances to honor the nine elected members of our board of trustees.

AISD trustees provide an invaluable service to the community by setting high goals for student achievement and by working hard to make sure the district achieves those goals. Our trustees volunteer hundreds of hours without pay on behalf of our students. They diligently probe the most pressing challenges while looking forward, expecting success and leading AISD with determination to forge an exemplary urban school district.

As elected leaders, trustees are accountable to the voters who elected them. This isn’t always easy, but our trustees show again and again that they are up to the task. Although trustees may represent different geographic parts of our district, they each work tirelessly to do what’s best for all our students.

To our school board: we appreciate your dedication and hard work on behalf of our students, staff and community. Thank you.
