Board President's Update, June 26

Dear Austin ISD Community:

As we prepare for the district’s Summer Efficiency Shutdown next week, the trustees have been working with executive search firm Ray & Associates to begin developing a profile of our next superintendent and establishing a timeline for the search process.

As a first step, Austin ISD will hold three days of public forums, July 15–17. Daytime forums will take place from noon–1:30 p.m. each day at Baker Center, 3908 Avenue B. Evening forums will be held simultaneously at multiple locations from 6:30–8 p.m. each night.

We invite and encourage everyone to attend one of these meetings and share your thoughts on the most important qualities you would like to see in our new superintendent.

We’ve also developed an online survey in English, Spanish and Vietnamese where you can select from a list of attributes the ones you think would be the most important for Austin's next superintendent. This information will be used to develop the profile that the search firm will use to recruit candidates and screen applicants.

All Austin ISD offices are closed next week, June 30–July 4, as well as each Friday through Aug. 8, so our next update on the search will be July 10.

Please continue to check our superintendent search website for the most up-to-date news and information. Have a safe Fourth of July holiday weekend!

Sincerely,

Vincent Torres
President
Austin ISD Board of Trustees
