AISD's first K-9 officer passed away July 17. Buddy retired last year after more than a decade of service to the district.

Buddy was responsible for more than 1,000 narcotic related finds that led to arrest. His hard work earned him the opportunity to assist Austin and Rollingwood police departments, Austin Community College and University of Texas police departments and the Travis County Sheriff's department. Buddy is responsible for recovering a large amount of cocaine and marijuana in a vehicle as part of "Project Delirium", a nationwide investigation with the FBI and other agencies.

Buddy also was a two-time, Police Olympic medalist in narcotic detection.

Buddy spent the past his retirement with his partner, AISD Police Detective Travis Pickford.
