Bilingualism is one of the skills that is in increasingly high demand in our competitive global economy. In AISD, we value bilingualism and operate dual language programs at several of our elementary and middle school campuses.
Developing proficiency in two languages enhances the development of bilingualism, biculturalism and biliteracy. These skills will enable students to graduate ready for college, career and life—one of the core beliefs of AISD’s academic vision.
The work you do each day in your classrooms with our students is instrumental in enabling us to implement that vision. This vision focuses on providing our students with skills in the areas we refer to as “the 6 C’s”: collaboration, communication, connection, creativity, critical thinking and cultural proficiency.
We continue to develop programming districtwide because we know it makes a difference for our students. In fact, Austin ISD was just recently recognized again for having several high schools ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
Your hard work goes into designing programming and clearly your implementation is paying off in the classroom. Keep up the good work. Summer will be here before we know it!
