Student Films Premiere During SXSWedu

Austin ISD hosts a special SXSWedu premiere of stories from students about how they are supported, challenged and encouraged to succeed.

Student films—representing 17 AISD high schools—capture the richness and diversity of life in the district’s high schools. The films highlight the dedication of the teachers, coaches, families and community members who inspire students every day.

Following the film, there will be a panel discussion with the student filmmakers, moderated by Hema Mullur of KEYE TV. KLRU will also broadcast the films at a later date.

The idea behind the project is to allow AISD students to tell stories about their lives in Austin and how they are changed every day by the opportunities their education provides them. It also gives students, as filmmakers, the opportunity to see their film on the big screen and participate in a discussion of their work.

The screening begins at noon Thursday at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, 1120 S. Lamar Blvd.

This event is free and open to the community.
