WHAT I DO:

I provide high-quality, individualized professional development and support to teachers in their first three years of service.  I conference, lesson plan, trouble-shoot, observe, co-teach, model-teach, set professional goals, and encourage novice teachers to be the best teachers possible for their students.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT WORKING AT AISD:

I like that there are always opportunities to network and collaborate with other professionals.

THE MOST REWARDING THING ABOUT THE WORK I DO:

Seeing AISD teachers through their journey of having no teaching experience to thriving in the classroom, is incredibly rewarding.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME:

I am originally from Iowa and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. My university had a program set up to student teach in San Antonio and I moved there knowing no one.

WORDS I LIVE BY:

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”  -- Leo F. Buscaglia

MY 5 FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT AUSTIN:

  • Dog friendly parks
  • The University of Texas
  • Triathlon events
  • Kayaking on Lady Bird Lake
  • Home Slice Pizza

SPECIAL PROGRAM I INITIATED:

Last year I conducted research on how students perceive their relationships with teachers at a middle school campus for my graduate work at UT. I have continued that work with another mentor this year and we will be presenting our findings at New Teacher Center Symposium in February, 2013.
