Meet Team AISD
I am afforded the supreme pleasure of getting to step back and watch my students put all their hard work into “action”....Getting to enjoy and experience their triumph with them is fantastic.
MY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
To help kids understand and question the world they live in as well as recognize their talents and uniqueness through drama. We do this through daily scene work, play productions, etc. Basically, my responsibility is to guide students through the creative collaborative process…it’s pretty great.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT WORKING AT AISD:
I’m always amazed that such a big district can seem small to me. I work with and have to contact a lot of different departments as an elective teacher. From finance/purchasing and transportation to carpentry and maintenance, there’s always someone I’ve gotten to know and have developed a rapport with in each department year after year. They know how to get things done and help me and I call on them frequently.
THE MOST REWARDING THING ABOUT THE WORK I DO:
I am afforded the supreme pleasure of getting to step back and watch my students put all their hard work into “action”. When they put something together that is really great (or even if it’s just awesome that they went through the process and came out the other side unscathed), getting to enjoy & experience their triumph with them is fantastic.
WHAT I'D SAY TO A POTENTIAL CANDIDATE:
This is the hardest and best job there is. At least in my experience, there’s always someone on campus or in the district that can help get you through the really hard days.
LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME:
I really wanted to teach Language Arts right out of college. I was only going to teach Theatre for a year or two and then find a LA position. Sixteen years later, I wouldn’t change a thing!
WORDS I LIVE BY:
Most words I live by are in the Bible. But in the classroom, our one rule is RESPECT…each other, ourselves, the task, the day, the materials…just respect.
