Facility Master Plan

Facility Master Plan 2019

Austin ISD is embarking on its update to the 2017 Facility Master Plan, a long-range roadmap to modernizing all district facilities.

What is the purpose of the FMP update?

The 2017 FMP calls for an update to the FMP every two years. The 2019 update is intended to be a continuance of efforts that were not realized in the 2017 FMP. The main focus of the update will be the addition of master plans that focus on;

  1. Athletics and Wellness;
  2. Career & Technical Education and Industry Pathways; and
  3. Fine Arts and Creative Learning.

These master plans will be led by a consultant, with guidance provided by the Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee, district administration and key staff, and most importantly, the community.

Concurrently, the FABPAC will work on updates to the FMP, including revisions to the way permanent capacity is calculated, the development of a strategy to reduce the district’s reliance on portable buildings for educational purposes, and a recommended consolidation process for the Board of Trustees consideration.
