The John F. Kennedy Center
In 2011, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts selected Austin, Texas as the seventh partner city for Any Given Child, a program that creates a long-range arts education plan for students in grades K-8.
Any Given Child seeks to bring access, balance, and equity to each child’s arts education, using an affordable model that combines the resources of the school district, local arts groups, and the Kennedy Center.
Through the designation of this program, AISD, the City of Austin, and MINDPOP developed the Creative Learning Initiative to create arts-rich school in Austin, Texas.
MINDPOP exists to expand creative learning in the classroom. MINDPOP has partnered with Austin ISD to support the district’s strategic goal of equitable access to and support of quality fine arts and creative learning instruction as a part of a strong core academic curriculum for all students.
The Creative Learning Initiative is grounded in research suggesting students attending arts-rich schools experience improved academic achievement, pro-social behaviors and college attainment.
