Family Support
At Austin ISD, we strive to provide as much support as possible for our families to easily get involved in their student's education. According to the National PTA, research shows that when parents are involved in their child's education:
- students achieve more, regardless of socio-economic status, ethnic/racial background, or the parents education level.
- students have higher grades and test scores, better attendance, and complete homework more consistently.
- students have higher graduation rates and greater enrollment rates in post-secondary education.
- students have less behavioral issues, such as alcohol use, violence, and antisocial behavior.

Parent Teacher Associations
The Austin Council of Parent Teacher Associations (ACPTA), is made up of representatives from local campus PTAs in Austin ISD. ACPTA provides training & workshops for local PTA board members twice a year, typically at the start of the school year, and again after officer elections toward the end of the school year. The ACPTA also provides assistance on PTA matters throughout the year. ACPTA serves as a link between AISD and families, informing the District of family concerns and recommending parent members for various AISD committees.
If you are interested in being part of the PTA, please contact your local school or email vpmembership@austincouncilpta.org
