College Signing Day Celebration
Austin ISD seniors will participate in Central Texas College Signing Day, a community-wide celebration that brings together 1,000 college-bound seniors from school districts throughout the region.
Inspired by the NCAA’s National Signing Day, College Signing Day reinforces the idea that excellence in the classroom should be given as much attention as excellence in athletics.
NCAA’s National Signing Day is when high school seniors sign a letter of intent to play sports at a specific college. Traditionally, athletes participate in press conferences to announce their intentions.
The goal of Central Texas College Signing Day is to share that level of excitement for ALL students going to college.
A VIP reception at 9:30 a.m. is followed by a pep rally with speakers, admissions advisers and college mascots welcoming students, and relay races for participating districts.
The event is 10:30–11:30 a.m. at the Concordia University Fieldhouse, 11400 Concordia University Drive.
AISD encourages all students and staff to wear a college T-shirt for Central Texas College Signing Day.
This year, a special presentation will pay tribute to the life of Draylen Mason, an East Austin College Prep student who had been accepted to the University of Texas Butler School of Music.
Mason was killed when a bomb exploded at his home in March.
