Teacher Induction Program
The Teacher Induction Program (TIP), provides campus professional staff new to the district with initial support that aligns with district initiatives. TIP offers professional learning that affords opportunities for teachers to come together in groups to network, share, and learn from each other. This professional learning focuses on expanding the teacher's knowledge, acquainting teachers with specific curricula and district practices, exposing them to new ideas and strategies, and providing a context for further learning. All teachers, librarians and elementary counselors new to the Austin Independent School District (AISD) are required to participate in this event and will be compensated through the Professional Learning Department for this time.
All new to AISD teachers are required to participate in TIP.
All level Librarians and elementary Counselors who are new to AISD are also required to participate in TIP.
Instructional Coaches & Specialists who are new to AISD participate in only events on Campus Orientation and District Orientation.
Staff required to participate in TIP are compensated through the Professional Learning Department for up to 6 hours on days of required attendance. Compensation is based on event sign in as recorded in the Human Capital Platform.

- First Days of School Checklist for Teachers
- Conversation Starters for New Teachers
The TIP Cohort days occur on August 8-9, 2017 and provide an opportunity for new to AISD staff to build collegial relationships that include grade/content specific support aligned with our three constructs for the week: curriculum and instruction, learning environment and standards and assessment. New to AISD teachers, librarians and elementary counselors are strategically assigned to a TIP Cohort where they are provided two days of comprehensive training prior to the start of school. TIP Cohorts will be at the TIP Facilitator's campuses' and content will be specific to each grade level and subject area. Please note that instructional coaches and specialists are not assigned to cohorts and do not participate in cohort support on these two days.
