Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS), Spring 2018 Results

This report summarizes AISD English learners’ (ELs) TELPAS performance on the 2018 Spring administration. Student performance is summarized by domain and composite ratings, and years in U.S. schools. The changes made to the test are also discussed.

Professional Pathways for Teachers: Summary of Evaluation Findings From 2017–2018

Professional Pathways for Teachers (PPfT) is a human capital system that blends three primary components: appraisal, compensation, and professional development (PD) opportunities. The purpose of PPfT is to build the capacity of Austin Independent School District (AISD) teachers through a comprehensive system of supports and compensation with the ultimate goal of having a positive impact on teacher retention and student achievement. The current evaluation document presents descriptive analyses of the 2017–2018 PPfT appraisal and compensation data.

2017-2018 Coordinated School Health

The Coordinated School Health (CSH) reports describe how the CSH program was implemented at AISD campuses. The reports provide summary- and campus-level information about achieved CSH action goals and information about changes in physical fitness of students at the campus since the previous year.

Thinking Heuristically About Student Growth in Austin Independent School District

This report presents a question-driven exploration of growth and achievement data using SAS EVAAS reports. The purpose of this exploration was to bring additional data, information, and ways of thinking about student growth to ongoing district conversations about the measurement of campus-level student growth.

Creative Learning Initiative: Impact of Creative Teaching on Academic Growth

This report examines the impact of Creative Teaching techniques on students’ academic growth on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) reading and math tests from 2016–2017 to 2017–2018. Statistically significant growth on STAAR reading was found for students who had teachers who were moderately competent at Creative Teaching techniques and used these techniques at least two times per week in their classrooms.

Career and Technical Education: Program Analysis Scorecard Report

This report summarizes Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program Analysis Scorecard results from the 2017-2018 school year. To better understand and measure conditions in the program prior to implementation of the CTE 5-Year Plan. To establish a baseline data, indicators related to quality of instruction, program alignment, and access and equity are described.

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) Austin: Annual Evaluation Report 2017-2018

This evaluation report presents a baseline description of outcomes for the 2017-2018 school year, the first year of GEAR UP Austin implementation in AISD. Specifically, the report describes program implementation, students' participation in GEAR UP Austin, and baseline student academic and college preparation outcomes.

This report summarizes some of the parent and family engagement services provided by PSSs to parents and families at their schools during the 2017–2018 school year.

Creative Campus Distribution in 2017-2018

National research shows that students attending arts-rich schools have higher levels of motivation and better academic and social success. This report, the first in a series of three on the Creative Learning Initiative, is used to track the progress of our district's investment in the whole child through the arts and creative teaching at each campus.
